OFPG - Episode 34 (Games We've Recently Played in July)

0:10 hi everybody i'm starla i'm here and we are on fabulous games yeah well we're back we're back it's the end of the month really the end of the month and we're taping on the end of the month and it's just going by so quick i know yes well yeah this is your knees are going real quick but yeah and what we're going to talk about today are the games we play during the month of july we played some games we did we've been busy but we've been playing some games you know we're a family that likes to play yeah any chance we get yes we haven't had a lot of time lately but we still playing though we're going to play some games we have to look like we're going to play some games we're going to play some games on the top yeah yeah so we're going to start at the beginning of our month and then we'll work our way to the last thing now we want to say that some of these games were sent to us by the publisher but we're still going to tell you what we think about yeah you know we still don't let you know yeah we'll let you know and we're happy someone was saying because someone would probably wouldn't have purchased no and so we got to experience some games that we probably wouldn't have bought on our own so thank you and even one that you you gave it another chance yes so the first one we played uh is succulent succulent by renegade games two to four players yeah now succulent is a thailand game you're a gardener yes your gardener and when i saw the box yeah it was really pretty and when we

4:09 give us one more chance darla because i didn't give him hope folks i didn't give him hope i said one more chance and we played it the second time yes and and then we played what two or three full time you played in the couple yeah yeah because you won the first time yes yes and it said well yes but i really like it now and like i said i don't know what it was the first time i played it a few years ago this time i really like it yeah yeah it's a good game it's a good game i mean to me it's like a middleweight game because there are a lot there's a lot going on that you got to keep up with yeah but it's not bad oh no no there's a lot going on i mean you can take people on tours of your little vineyard and you're building you know you're trying to build up your visa your vineyard you know trying to build up your place you know that's pretty cool i i really like it now so i gave the game a second chance and i changed my mind and now we have to do the expansion yes we have to do an expansion yeah we will we're going to do the expansion soon yeah all right now another one we played that we really enjoyed roll for it the deluxe version by calliope games that is two to eight players girl we have you can get a lot of people around the table with this one yeah the advantage to me with roll four is that you know after you've worked you know all day you come home you tired you want to play something with your family you want to do something relaxing and fun yeah this is one of those games that's just relaxing yeah it don't take

5:40 much it is it'll take much out of it yeah you know you know if you can roll some dice you can play this game but but it's so exciting because you're rolling dice it's almost like you're in vegas or something you just rolling dice come on be nice to me guys be nice to me but them dice never knights the dice are not nice and nightmares dice are not nice sometimes but you know what we love about it is that it's so simple you just roll the dice and you match your hearts yeah you put down a variety of cards you have a selection yeah and you're trying to get those cards by matching the dice to the cards and so if the card has two dice on there and it has two twos you gotta get two twos it has a two three whatever it is on the card you match them you take that card you use points and then

6:38 and i like that because if we are tired you know it's late at night you don't really want to go to sleep but you don't want to do something that's going to be a brain burner and you turn over to admit let's just let's do a little role for us yeah that's a good one it's a good one so yeah that's a good one for y'all to get that's we we we really recommend that i like it especially if you're bringing somebody new into the lobby yeah this is so simple and easy yeah they're gonna love it yeah so i would really suggest this for you know like you know families of color this is really fun to kind of start you on your way to get into the gaming you know this is really cool of fun it's a lot of fun now another one that i like but you're still in the fifth zone i'm on the fence that's pan am i only at one point it's brand new i i bought that yes because i liked it yes and and i bought it and it's by funko games three to four players yes and i like it i'm on the fence okay why why are you on the fence well okay the components i'm just going to be straight up no no be straight be straight funko the components are cheap i don't like them you know a lot of people like them i don't like the little cheap light plastic planes i wish they were maybe heavier or different kind of plastic i don't know like kind of almost real well you know they they selling out of you know the big box stores i know you gotta they got a little bit more i'm telling you why i just didn't you know just blow me over some components are so beautiful beautiful and they they feel good yeah yeah yeah

8:09 these not so much i mean they're okay they're good they're solid components yeah i like the retro style of the kind like the 60s yeah you know i like the retro style of the 60s kind of like those old movies that you always look at you know and i love those you love those old movies and it kind of reminds me of when they're getting on the the pan am plane and stuff and you can see all that it kind of reminds me of that yeah so that's why i kind of liked the art dart was kind of cool yeah i was okay now and the gameplay i like you know doing the bidding you know you have to bidding on all the worker placement all the different sections and trying to get routes so you know pan am can buy out your your route that's pretty cool you're being bought out by pan am but they're growing you know panther was a big boy back then you know you know before you know that was they went out of business in 91 and i think i wanted i wanted to get on the pan am i've never flown on a panel i wanted to get on a panel and then it went out of business but i wanted to get on the planet i was like man you know i i always thought that i'm gonna make it when i get on a pan am flight going over to europe or something yeah i never made panicking no i didn't make it wrong but that's okay yeah but the game is cool the game is okay i i'm getting to a point where i've got to play a game at least yeah that's what you're saying to give like a real like really this is what we think yeah this is what we think yeah yeah but we'll try it again i'm ready to try yeah yeah yeah now this one we love the series yes we do the series

12:32 now the next one is uh that we play and we have a review coming out on it so yes we do uh is thieves thieves by the queen and games yeah and that is two to four players yeah yeah oh thieves is so much fun oh man these are what we call an oldie but a goodie and in this house it's a family family favorite favorite favorite but we don't get to play it as much as i'd like to because we're getting so many other people yeah but what i love is every time it hits the table yes we have a blast oh man and you know that time mechanism because time is almost like your currency yes and it also time holds you back yes it lets you go you know really forward you know it helps you out it's either your friend and mostly it's your enemy yeah hopefully it's your enemy you got a 52-week year and as you travel around in these ancient cities you're spending weeks and pulling out and you know when you go to the different you know uh cities ancient cities to do art you know the excavation you know you pulling out stuff out of a bag and it's either dirt or an artifact but it's no slick dirt and then people cheering you on saying oh i hope you get dirt hope you get dirt and my god and all you then mostly come up with dirt well i do i come up with dirt that's what happens sometimes you're taking a chance i come with dirt you're pressing your luck you know yeah but i like it i like it i i really do like that game we do we like these and thieves is a really good solid game it's a great game for families i think it's a gateway game i really think it's gateway i don't think it's it's gateway but

14:02 i don't think you can't go too hard because i mean it's that time management and the time wheel i would say it's kind of kind of in that little gap between gateway and medium weight it's kind of in that gray area yeah right in that gray area yeah you know now that's what we played those are the games we played in the mouth of july we have a few games that we look forward to in august yes now one of them was nevada city that you is you you're in i'm kind of interested in that that's kind of cool i like the way it looks we kind of look that'll watch it play yeah i kind of like the way it looks so i want to try that and then also we we were we were sent uh pendulum yes from stone my games i don't know huh we've watched some watching oh no oh no we're gonna do our best to get it to the table oh no like the chaos you know the chaos yeah i don't know but we you know what what we got to do we've got to leave our opinions until we actually try it but we haven't but we're not fans of real time no you know real time games though but you know what we're going to try it yeah it's on our list in august the games we want to put on the table that we want to play yeah and that's one of them yeah and then another one is fort fort yeah
