Description

Electrify invites 2-4 players into the role of skilled electricians tasked with wiring an expansive hotel under construction. In this vibrant and strategic board game, each player competes to lay down the longest and most efficient cable networks while installing essential electrical components in various rooms.

Throughout the game, players draw cable cards and room cards, allowing them to connect rooms to the main power source. To succeed, players must strategically manage their cable supplies, align with specific room requirements, and carefully navigate the board’s connector boxes. Points are earned based on cable length and the completion of room installations.

The game combines a mix of planning, resource management, and a touch of tactical competition, as players work to control the hotel's electrical network. Do you have the skill to illuminate the entire hotel and outscore your fellow electricians?

Very Positive
Pros
  • Engaging engine building
  • Satisfying combo of mechanisms
  • Simultaneous turns make it quick
  • Good solo mode
  • Multi-use cards
Cons

Mechanics (from transcript analysis)
  • action selection โ€” It's a simultaneous action selection, slice selection.
  • Engine Building โ€” Uh, it is a engine builder.
  • Multi-Use Cards โ€” multi-use cards and I love that.
  • Resource Management โ€” And you're trying to get the resources to then generate the electricity which then will help you finish a goal which then will give you points but also make your slices more powerful or give you cards or give you more resources.
  • Set Collection โ€” So some of the cards have arrows, so it will like allow you to activate other cards that it's connected to. So you get this long chain of actions, which is really fun.
  • Simultaneous action selection โ€” So you it's simultaneous turns and if you match someone, you go up on this innovation track, but if you don't match, then that slice and every other slice to the right of it moves up and becomes even more powerful.
  • Worker Placement โ€” when you place the card and you activate that slice, you put a cube on everything you're going to activate during that turn and then you can activate it in whatever order by taking a cube off and activating that action.

  • It's much heavier than Flamecraft.
  • This is definitely a strategy game. Mid midweight mid to heavy strategy game.
  • it's a big game on the table. A lot of moving parts. Gorgeous, gorgeous game because we have Sandor Tang again and Sergio Chavez.
  • So, it's a bag builder. You're pulling out these tokens. What you pull out will determine what actions you take.
  • And y'all, it is good. It is good. But it's definitely much heavier than previous Cardboard Alchemy games. It's still gorgeous though. It's still gorgeous. Still a sprawling game. And I think for the the Euro strategy lovers, this is going to be a good one.

  • It's very interesting combo of mechanisms and it really is that engine builder goodness that I absolutely love.
  • And it really is that engine builder goodness that I absolutely love.
  • So, that's Electrify from AG.
  • I love seeing that and everybody getting along. No big incidents. I think that's just amazing that so many cultures come together in spread over three different countries because not only in the United States, United States is the most in games but yeah and everybody gets along people joining in on on marches, fan marches and I think that's just awesome to see.
  • But it was funny because it was a whole circle thing for me.

Quotes (from this video)
  • Dominion is like a cheat code for game design.
  • The momentum system isn't a BS tagline at all. It is a true system that I think for me has transcended deck builders.
  • I I don't think people have any responsibility.
  • It's a matter of scaling, but that would be that would be exciting to get to another floor and like, 'Oh, this is a whole new deck.'
  • The magic of Unstoppable is that moment where you look at your hand and you've got like two cards, right? And you're like, there's no way I can kill all these threats with these two cards. I'm screwed.
