OFPG - Episode 32 (Top 20 Games that Utilize Cards - Part 2)

[Music] well you know what we started this list a few days ago yes we did and we got to finish it up gotta finish it up so we were talking about our top 20 games that utilize cost yes and now we're from 10 to everybody's been waiting everybody's been waiting let's do it let's do it because we go we're gonna do it we're gonna do it so you know i don't know again we always talk about how it's so hard yeah for us to come together to be cooperative come together it's so hard huh you hear me say cooperative to be cooperative to come up with come on we're gonna be co-op yes for this to make decisions for this yes so but we we did it we made a decision all right and so number 10 is one of my husband's favorites and it's called fox in the forest fox in the forest baby now fox in the forest is a trick taking game from renegade games and it's a two player yeah it's not nice to me it's not nice to her because you know you have this the you have a couple of sets in there but i like to think about three sets and some of the cards have some special powers on it yeah that you know it's just not you know just playing some spades that you used to it had some cards on it that changed the game on you a little bit with this game is that you know my husband's like well you play space yeah be good at this should be good but see it changes the trump suit and so for some reason he always seems to have the upper hand in this game yes i don't know what it is because i'm good i'm good at it maybe in this one but not in space no but fox in the forest is hand management it's trip taking i like it i like it i like it you know i i i tease them about winning you know so because i i do it a little bit and i enjoy it because the rest of the time that's hard yeah but you know what some games are nice to me some are not this happens to be one yes so i let him have it let me have it yeah let me have it all right number nine now now we've had this from the beginning of us playing yes and we've always liked it and and even though there's a couple there's that one card that i don't like but everything else is cool and that's sushi go from right yes from game right yeah sushi the story behind that is that we were at a meet-up yes and we saw people playing this game we've never seen anything like that no we didn't know cars around and taking a car that you like and pass what what what are they doing so we watched it for a while and then the guy that was teaching it invited us to sit down and play and we were a little slow catching on but we were willing to learn yes keep that open mind yeah yeah we were willing to learn and we just saw how much fun these other people were having and i'm like let's try it out yes and once we learned it we did a few rounds and we finally got it we had to get it i had to get it so it's better because it's fun and then the little cards are cute they got a little sushi even though they you know they're gonna die in a minute but you know you it's full of sushis they look cute and then you all but when you put them down you better have you know you better have that dessert you know that dessert if you don't have a dessert you get hurt i like that i like that yes how to dessert you get hurt so yeah sushi goes a good game it's a nice little party game yeah it's light yeah but it's fun it's fun because it takes up i think the six folks and then if you get the the version the next version that came out which is sushi go party that we do have it goes to eight and i like that that's a real good you know family game that everybody can play you can just change out some of the cars yeah you can check out some of the cars because that chopstick card that chopstick it get a little confusing but i do like it it's really fun yeah now this next one number eight yes yes you got to tell the story on that one oh yeah cat lady the cat lady by aeg yeah now cat lady is a car drafting game and it also involves set collection yes cat lady we just actually learned cat lady just last year it was in 2019 we were invited to a little game meet up in lincoln nebraska and nora jane from uh new con yes uh asked us to sit down and learn and it's the cutest thing yeah i love it some people say oh the artwork is all that great i like i like the little cats and cat names and you're trying to get the you know the road that you want and you got to make sure you feed get resources well you got to feed the cattle you got to feed the cats in order to get those cat has to eat if you want to get people yeah you want to get points so you got to you got to figure out how you get and then what i like you know but you got that little cat that stands in the way of you getting either one of the rows of the columns yes but what i like about it it's so thematic that you have a spray bottle like you can spray that little thing and get it out the way i love that i love that you got toys for you yes she does and costume costumes yeah you better have that catnip too oh if you don't have no catnip some catnip you get some negative points but that's number eight that's cat lady yeah now number seven is another one of my family favorites of course you know i got to quit saying that because all these guys yeah because they ain't the top ten they are saying they're not afraid to be telling you that yeah it's our favorite century spice road yes yes century spice road is two to five players and it's by plan b games plan b games branding games we like them because we got the whole trilogy yes we do we got the whole killing yeah so it's car drafting deck building hand management and set collection yes it's really good now you're talking about a gateway game that's one it's a gateway game but sometimes i don't know i guess i would introduce people to it but it's yeah this is not bad it's not bad isn't it bad i think it's i think it's more it has more to do than splendor actually okay yeah yeah and i think a lot of people are saying this is a splendor killer yeah but it's not really not you can have both of them in your course you got to have both yeah i love century spice road and i love the spicy that you have to collect to fulfill the cards and get points i love that aspect of it yeah and i mean it's a good game it's a big it's that's what it is no no if you want to have games that are two good ones that are almost the same have them in your collection we do kind of like women in shoes you know you can have a ton of these you love your shoes lord jesus christ i can tell myself i'm not buying black shoes anymore because i probably got about 15 pair of black shoes and i just anyway you can never have too many shoes no no you can have too many shoes you can have too many shoes in this household we just can't seem to have enough games oh we're working on that you can have as many shoes you want baby you have one shoe you won't because yeah yeah entirely too many games you want you have the shoes well now we got this figured out we got all figured out to play to buy shoes but i don't have a complaint about this game yeah well i'll let you get you like the little glittery shoes you got in there you haven't used it yet it doesn't matter what the glittery shoe okay then when i get as many shoes as we have games then we'll talk okay ooh let's move on okay our next one is number six and it is citadel citadels citadel citadels place two to eight players gives you all the cards all the expansions and everything so we have it all in there where you have to do a little bluffing yeah you got to do a little you know like trying to bluff a little trying to make sure that you get by because you have some treacherous cards in there like you know like the thief and the warlord and stuff and you're trying to build up your your little i guess city or your and he's trying to make sure that you know you've got you got to leave because you don't want to get you know kicked out that's right yeah you don't get kicked out after you use a set collection so i mean it's got variable player power yes i mean the mechanics in this game it's just it's a variety and it keeps you interested yes you do yeah that's when you want to have it that's a family game too [Music] familiar and that's a fun one and we've had that for a long time too yeah yes we have not quite as long as a sushi go to me in a way you know because you know i want it at a um international tabletop day competition no no not just an international tabletop day today yeah and we would come competing in catan you know well that contained but you know and i went and i was like just desserts it's just desserts i'm like you know looney labs i said yeah i know looney laughs so let's go for it so i said let's let's try it out you know just dessert yeah and we love it yeah just desserts is a really cute game where you've got these customers and you have to fulfill their dessert orders so somebody may want chocolate ice cream somebody may want boston cream pie and you've got to find those cards that will fulfill that dessert yeah so you don't always have to do it exactly so if the boston cream pie requires chocolate and ice cream as long as you have a card that has chocolate and then one that has ice cream you can put those together and that's considered a fulfillment for that card so i really love just desserts yeah because you know you have to it's that kitchen where okay do i use these cards that have desserts on them that i might be able to use on some customers do i use it you know now or do i hold on to it you know or do i use it now so i can use the ingredients on it because it's like a multi-use card yeah i love those multi-use cards if you feel it exactly if you give exactly what they want you get extra turns yeah so get an extra card yeah so it's like that's the benefit of trying to wait around to do an exact fulfillment or you go ahead and just use the ingredients and just fulfill it so you can move on to the next one gotta make that decision yeah it's a real fun game though it is and you know it's not getting much love either i know but i i guess maybe people just like talking about it it's a good travel game oh yeah a good travel game so check it check out check it out check it out check it out now our next one we've talked about this one before it's another one that's kind of new to our collection because we just got it last yes yes yes point salad point salad is two to six plants and it is [Music] multi-use cards yes it is and it's fun because you're building a salad but you're not really building that you use it's a point salad because you're trying to try to get those points any way you can from those cards but what i love is that you know the designers did a play on words because a lot of people say games of point salads where you can get a whole bunch of points in different ways yeah and so they just called it point salad and you can get a whole bunch of points yeah but they use salad ingredients so that's what i think is so cute because i'm a salad eater yes i don't like salad but i do like pork salad yes regular salad yeah i like my vegetables cooked and yeah i just don't do the raw vegetables yeah she does that corn salad is really cute yes it is you got carrots yes and tomatoes yes and cabbage cabbage cabbage and onions and onions yeah and tomatoes yeah there's different types of vegetables in there but it's so cute and it's the only salad i'll play with that's right oh and i don't have to i like that i like that yeah i like that so that's number four point salad yep now number three we love this one now this is one i don't think we've ever talked about no i i don't think we haven't even talked about it because it's fun we like this one no you know but it's a good game so it's imperial settlers from portal games one to four players yeah and you are constructing buildings yes you're gonna harvest resources yes we do and then you get a chance to attack your neighbors and then you have those different you have different player powers too because one one civilization is different from the other and can do different things with the cause yes you may be playing the egyptians yeah all the romans yeah i like the romans i like the romans i like the romans but you get a chance to attack your neighbors you can you always play the egyptians though i like the egyptians yeah the different ways to play the game but i love it i mean it's just the way that you're my egyptian queen thank you yeah but yeah imperial settlers i don't think people talk about that enough they do because you know they have that new uh new expansion that i you know that i have you know that i got you know i got that one uh the rise of the empire unless that brings it into an open world yes you know i want to try that one out so i got that one so we can try that one out we're going to we're going to we're going to it's on the shelf of shane yeah we're trying we're trying we're just trying y'all we're trying yeah we're trying to keep up now we're number two we're getting to the end of this list and it's a big one we love it this one is one of my favorites this is your favorite this is your favorite because you love to teach this one too you know i hate to say my favorite because there's so many games yeah and each one's different it's just like okay i love ice cream but i also love cake yeah you know yeah it's just all those sweet things that you like yes and this is just one of them yeah so my number two are our number two our number two because this is this is the thing here that's right it's our number two splendid splendor oh we love splitting yes the chips i mean you know the little uh like pork chip pork poker poker poker chips and you just play with those yeah you know and then uh yeah the cards are kind of multi used to kinda you know because they help you you know they help you sometimes give you points because you need 15 to win right and also help you build an engine really like engine that's right building that engine baby you're building that engine different ways to use this car is that we are gymnastics yeah and try to get those those nobles a little mean looking over them you know some the nobles are always mean looking coming to your store all right we want them to visit you because they give you [Laughter] so we want those nobles to come to yeah ireland's shop to come see our gym yes so we have to work hard to get the nobles to come visit yes and so we really love it as an engine builder but as my husband was saying you get to 15 points the first one to get to 15.

it brings the game to an end but you have to finish the round and somebody might get somebody 18 on you yeah yeah yeah that's splendid i love playing it just resonates with people and i just love it because it is so simple it uses stuff people are used to the cars and then the poker chips for the gyms it's just awesome it is awesome and i love the teacher because it is it's easy to teach and it's beautiful to look at yes it really is as for a card game they did some really great artwork on the cards and i love that yeah but you know on the expansion that we did get yeah we kind of i like the original i like the like the base game i like the original you know expansion is cool some of the modules there's like a few modules in there some of them are okay so uh you know so we'll talk on that one day but yeah but the original game is just beautiful yeah you don't have to have expansion number one all right this was hard because i really wanted to have splenda be number one yeah yeah but this game we played so much we roll out the car yes we did we wore them out and you know i think that happens a lot with us when we get a new game that we really like we will play it over and over and over until we're actually ready to move on you know unlike some people they'll get something new they play it one time they're ready for the next one yeah i can't do that with the game no i can't i have to play it over because one thing i want to get it solidified in my memory of how the game is played yes because my husband always teases me about you don't ever remember how the game is played you guys see this wall and then we have another shelf of games and we got the games are ridiculous i can't remember them all right but what okay he remembers the most of them but what i love about it is we can play it over and over and over and i love it that much then i will remember it and this is one of those games that every time my husband that get home from work or whatever let's get all my goods yeah let's make my videos yes and that's number one oh my goodness [Laughter] we gave it away from lookout and it is multi-use card to the fifth degree yes it is now when we first learned this game you couldn't get it i was gonna get it how's the card my product and i didn't understand how it was about money your money was everything your product everything you turn the car into a different way yeah it's like what is that so yeah it took me a little while to grasp it but once you grasp it oh i love it wow whoo the designer was really just alexander fister yeah we like his stuff yeah we like it he was just really thinking out the box on this yeah she was yesterday i love the design because it's so unique and oh my god it's just a good game how you gotta you know gotta have you know the get resources and try to you know use the production chain to get more resources and get higher it just it's wild well some of the mechanics are set collection yeah push your luck push your luck hand management yes and of course the multi-use cards multi-use cards it's fun oh my god man oh my goodness oh my god there you go it's a small card game i i don't consider it a travel game because it does have a big fruit when you put it on the table it's not like some games it's got a little small footprint it can have a big footprint especially if you got four people trying to play you will need a big table yes you know to cover this game so but it is a great game and these are our top 10 yes and we will have a list at the end of this video i hope that you have some of these games we're talking about and if you have them on your shelf of shame take them off take them off and play it yeah yeah and you know let us know what you think you know the top 10 should have been or what you got what's your top team we try to play as many games as we can but yeah there's just no way that we can play every game everybody has to do thousands we're trying thousands of games but we do try and what i do love is that those really really good games just like they say the cream comes to the top yes those really really good games we find that most people have the majority of the games we talk about because these are really solid games because you know we always look when we see you know like different reviewers and different people that show their games and stuff like oh they got ticket to ride and some other stuff yeah those are really solid games yeah because everybody got it yeah cause everybody got it that means that it has a common theme or common thread that people can identify with and those are the kind of games we really want to have in our collection like terraforming mars no that is not even on the list yeah but i'm just saying everybody got that on their shelf you know
