- Adjacent Bird Effects — Effects that refer to birds immediately to the left, right, top, or bottom, but never diagonally.
- Flightless Birds — Birds represented by an asterisk, treated as wild when conditions refer to wingspan, qualifying for powers or bonus cards that reference wingspan.
- Game End Effect — Scoring powers with a yellow background that activate only at the end of the fourth round.
- nectar resource — A wild food resource that can be used to pay for costs requiring food. When spent, nectar tokens are placed on the spent nectar spaces of the board.
- New Player Mats — Replace original player mats with new ones that have new reset actions in columns 2 and 4 (forest and wetland rows).
- Reset Actions — New options on player mats to reset the bird feeder (re-roll dice) or the bird tray (discard and replace cards).

- First you'll shuffle the 95 new birds into your core game.
- The new nectar resource which is special because it's considered a wild food.
- Nectar itself cannot be used in the spending portion of this exchange.
- At the very end of the game players will check to see who has the most nectar tokens in the spent nectar spaces of each of their habitats and you score each of these habitats separately.
- These are flightless birds and anytime you have a bird power or bonus card that has a condition referring to wingspan you treat these wingless birds as wild.
- Anytime you see a yellow background this is a game end effect and these will only activate once at the end of the fourth round.
