Life & Channel Chat! | Previews, going to Japan, my anticipated games at Essen & more!
hey friends it is Jenna what is up and welcome back to the board game garden and welcome to a little bit of a different video than I normally do I had like a bunch of random things to kind of tell you guys but I didn't know where to put those so basically what I'm doing is I am doing a little like life update kind of board game Garden update kind of video um I know that monik naven over at before you play they do these like on on a monthly basis where they kind of do like I think they call them Vlogs but they're basically just you know sitting down Life Update chatting and then I do think that they go over some like small boox game reviews as well I'm not going to be doing any like small boox game reviews or anything in this video but like I said I did want to kind of just sit down and chat with you guys and give you a little update and uh tell you a few things that are going to be going on things that went on um within this past month and stuff like that so yeah if you guys are interested in hearing about all of those things um definitely just keep on watching give this video a big thumbs up if you enjoy Also hit that subscribe button down below if you yet to do so we'd love to have you here in the garden um I will also have this video timestamped so if there's certain things that you want to hear about um go into the description box and I'll have all of the timestamps of the different things that I chat about in this video I'm not sure how long this is going to be I don't think it's going to be too too long there are like four or five things that I want to touch on and then then we will uh wrap up the video so yeah without further Ado let's get into this little board game Garden SL Jenna's Life Update shall we all right so getting into the first topic this is something that I wanted to bring up with you guys and kind of apologize for this was something that I didn't expect to happen in the month of September um but basically I noticed in September and I was very busy in September because a lot of preview videos um were kind of due in September and I didn't realize a lot of the previews that I accepted um some of them got shifted a little bit from like August and July to September so I ended up having a lot of previews in September and I do want to apologize for that and let you guys know that this is definitely not like a normal thing that's going to be happening I'm not going to be having you know three or four previews a week kind of thing um there was at one point in September like four previews that went up one week and I do know that that is probably annoying to see that um for some of you that don't love to see crowdfunded board games and stuff but I do want to apologize for that and let you guys know that that's not the normal like I said um and going forward October there's going to be like maybe one or two towards the end of the month um and then in November I have like three so typically when I think of previews um I try to have you know one a week at most so going forward that is what you can expect to see unless things get pushed um I really have no control over that sometimes crowdfunding campaigns just get pushed for various reasons and I have to just say okay I'll push it to this date and have a few more previews in a week than I typically do so yes thank you all so much for uh supporting and for those of you that watch the previews I appreciate that as well and hopefully like some of you like them I really enjoy filming them and that is why I um continue to film them and do them they are a lot of work and I do get paid for them and that is the big chunk of the money that I bring in for my family Francis and I and our dogs and Francis has been super super supportive with me doing the board game Garden full-time I do not want to get emotional with this uh but he's been very very supportive and I feel like it is you know my duty to help bring in money and previews are the main way that that is happening so I appreciate you guys watching those and allowing me to do those um and a huge shout out to all the Publishers that allow me to do previews because that is really how I make money for my family and help out with all of that so uh thank you guys so much and I do want to mention quickly as well when it comes to previews that I do have quite a like detailed way that I accept previews I do want to let you guys know that I only accept and do previews for games that I think I would enjoy and that I genuinely want to share with you guys I get a lot of emails every single day from Publishers asking me to do previews for different crowdfunding games and I do a lot of research on you know like what the game is the mechanics the player count the play time everything about the game as well as I do research on the publisher if I've ever worked with them before if I haven't worked with them before um kind of their past games um different things like that and then also I really want to make sure it's a game that I think my audience would enjoy as well so I always look to see if it's more of an approachable game a family game um more of like a Euro heavy gamer game as well because I do a lot of different types of games here on the channel so I want to make sure that it also possibly has a solo mode because I know that my audience here really loves um solo gaming and stuff like that so I really do a lot of in-depth research on the game before I accept it and then if it you know hits all of those things and checks off all those boxes so then I know that everything is good and I will accept it to do a preview video for it I also do like the solo live streams and stuff like that so yeah I just want to let you guys know that I do you know turn down quite a few games and I always make sure that the games that I am showing here on the channel and that I am doing you know sponsored content for are games that I genuinely enjoy and want to make content on on so yeah that is a little first kind of section of this video I just wanted to bring that up and let you guys know that I'm aware and do a little bit of an apology for those of you that you know probably don't like to see that many previews just know that like I said it's not a normal and it's not something that's going to happen going forward so uh yes thank you all so much again for your patience and your support and all of those things all right so the next section is just me going over a little bit of a wrap up of some of the different things that I did in September so the first thing was that I took a trip to Nashville and I went to the IV games or IV Studio headquarters and I did some content on a game they are coming out with at the end of October specifically October 29th and that is called 10 so this is actually a flip and right game which you guys know how much I love flip and right games it's quite a crunchy heavy flip and right game and it also has a little bit of a theme of like stardew Valley Animal Crossing a little bit of like that like Farming Simulator cozy video game kind of vibe which makes me so incredibly happy so when they did reach out and asked if I wanted to come to do some content on it I was like absolutely this sounds like a perfect game for me and honestly it was really good I don't want to talk too much about it as of yet but just know that I enjoyed it very very much and yes that is 10 it is going to be coming to uh Crown funding on October 29th and it was such an amazing trip I went there for I think it was like three days um I got to hang out with the wonderful bonson nator as well as H Jason from easy cat Carly from board game Buzz as well as Tom vassel and Joey Evans from The Dice Tower and then also obviously the whole team at Ivy games it was just such a fun overall trip a quick trip like I said but it was a lot of fun I ended up playing tend like seven or eight times in those three days so very very fun we film some content as well so keep a lookout for some content over on the ivy games YouTube channel of some playthroughs of tend um but yeah that was the first one and then at the end of September just last week I believe I went to the World Series of board gaming so I went and hung out with some friends and I did compete in one of the Ring events which was the castles of burgundy and it was so cool it felt at the beginning of the convention very much so just like your normal convention I just played a lot of games hung out with friends we went to the Taco Bell Cantina cuz it was in Las Vegas and that was one of my favorite things ever I loved that we walked around the like Vegas strip a little bit that was a lot of fun it was very hot um like I said I played a ton of games and hung out with some awesome people and then I competed in the castles of burgundy ring event unfortunately I did lose in the first round round but it was okay um and then I also when I did get out of the ring event when I got like booted out um I ended up signing up for a thing called The Phoenix tournament so each of the different ring events had a phoenix tournament which was a little bit of like a second chance for those that weren't able to make it further in the ring event or Ring tournament um so I actually signed up for that and so I tried to compete in that as well but unfortunately I did lose as well both games I felt really good about how I played there's a lot of good castles of burgundy players out there and I thought I was going to get stomped on but I in both games got complimented on my gam play um and that just made me really really happy so yes overall wsbg World Series of board gaming was a lot of fun great experience um so I was happy that I did go and it's really motivated me to um train more and play some more cast as a Burg and really master that game so do you guys ever want to play a game of castles of burgundy add me over on BGA I'm just Jenna Beasley and I would love to play a game of castles so yeah that is the second part all of my different trips that I went on in September next thing that I wanted to touch on speaking of trips is the fact that in a few days from when I'm filming this I am actually leaving to go to Japan with my partner Francis so yes we have been planning this trip for a very long long time we are going together to Japan we are traveling to Tokyo and kenawa and Kyoto and Osaka as well bunch of different places and we are going to be there for I think two a little bit over two weeks um so October is going to be a little bit of a quiet month here at The Bard game Garden I am going to be filming some stuff ahead of time and scheduling those to go up when I am gone but I probably will only have time to film like one uh for each week so you guys might see one video per week for the next few weeks um but there are some fun content or fun videos that are going to be going up so yes I am so excited we are leaving on Saturday October 5th and then we are getting back on um I don't know what day it is but we're getting back on October 21st so we are going to be gone for a lot of October um but yeah I am just so excited I am going to be vlogging so I'm going to be filming the entire trip which I'm very very excited about um if you guys do not know I have another YouTube channel which I haven't uploaded on in a while it is called generose I will have that other YouTube channel linked down below if you guys want to go and subscribe to it because I have some awesome news um which is the fact that I'm going to start uploading over there again so I did a lot of like lifestyle Vlogs and like I said with going to Japan I'm going to be vlogging um that whole trip so I'm going to have a bunch of Vlogs going up over there once once we get back from Japan I'm going to do a whole Tokyo Vlog and then I'll do a kenawa vlog an Osaka Vlog a Koto Vlog all of the things I am very very excited to film it I really have this like vision of what my Vlogs are going to look like in my head cuz I really take a lot of kind of inspiration from these like Slice of Life Japanese vloggers um where you actually don't talk you guys probably noticed in a lot of my board game vog Vlogs that I typically don't take the camera and like talk to the camera I more so show what I'm seeing I put some really nice lowii music in the background I keep some of the natural um kind of noise in the background of the Vlog as well and I really love when vloggers do that so I'm excited to make some really nice like chill cinematic Vlogs of our trip to Japan um so yeah definitely go and check out the Jenner Rose YouTube channel subscribe over there if you guys want to see those when those go up I will also mention that I will be doing a board game focused Vlog as well so I will be vlogging here and there and adding some clips from our trip but then all of the board game related content so we will be going to a bunch of board game stores in Japan um I will be vlogging that and showing you guys um all the board game stores and a lot of the games that we're playing while we're in Japan and the games that I'm going to be picking up in Japan I'm I'm so excited for that so that'll be a vlog here on the board game garden and then uh also if you guys want to just kind of see things come in real time I do have a Bard game Garden Instagram which is at the Bor game Garden that I made not too long ago and I will be keeping you guys updated there and on my personal Instagram which is @ Jenner Rose Beasley if you guys just want to see real time the trip of Japan there um I will be posting stories and stuff over on my Instagram so yes anyways that is everything for that little section uh Francis and I are very excited to go to Japan and I cannot wait to document it and share it with you guys so yeah all right and the last section here I do know when I am uploading this video that Essen is currently going on so I did want to do a full video of me going over my top 10 most anticipated games of Essen and then also some of my recommendations and stuff but I feel like a lot of the games that I am anticipating and the ones that I recommend are games that I've already talked about here on the channel so I just wanted to do a quick little section in this video of some of the games that I am very much so anticipating that are being released at um Essen and then a few that are getting released at Essen as well that I recommend that I've played thus far um so I have a little list in front of me the first one that I recommend is unconscious mind so I did see that unconscious mind is now being fulfilled and I do believe that they are having some copies of unconscious mind for sale at Essence so that is one that I covered here on the channel and I absolutely loved and I cannot wait to see the final version and play it so that is one um another one that I actually was anticipating at Gen Con and I did pick up a copy after I got home from Gen Con um that is tier nug I don't know if they're going to have copies of tier nug at s but they did have some at Gen Con and then they did a reprinting um kind of campaign for that so I'm not sure if they're going to have copies there but I played that one recently and really enjoyed it um also a few that I've covered here on the channel um add's dream or adah Dream from Aly cat games that one is going to be available I believe also rebirth from mighty boards that one is going to be available I loved both of those very very much um also Andromeda Edge I just recently received my copy of Andromeda Edge Ed and I've played it a few times and oh my goodness such a good game also spectaculars one that I picked up at Gen Con which I've played and really enjoyed brief project from Bor and dice I actually like played this one very recently at World Series of board gaming and loved it it was such a surprise to me um River of gold is going to be available at Essen which has been probably one of my favorite of the Year thus far um Middle Ages I really enjoy and that one's going to be available there as well as fairy ring which is one that I recently played as well and love so those are some of my recommendations of games that I've played this far that are going to be available at Essen and then as for my most anticipated I don't know how many of these I want to mention but I'm going to just kind of list them off a lot of these are kind of just based off of the overall look of the game as well as theme um some of the like opinions of some fellow content creators and friends of mine that I've heard um as well as just like overall mechanisms and like the the Spiel that they have on uh the board game geek page for each of these games so first one is Minecart town this one looks absolutely adorable um it is I do believe like a tile placement game of some sort um which I just overall love the look of this one it kind of reminds me of a little like cozy Farming Simulator video game it looks very very cute um also witchdom is one that I'm really really anticipating um I actually looked a lot into this one because this one was possibly one that I was going to do a learn and play or teach and play at packs unplugged but I'm no longer doing that but I do really want a copy of this one regardless um another one is Babylon which is a gorgeous game and a very stunning like game on the table I actually demoed this at Gen Con and it is coming out at Essen and you're basically building building out a like beautiful garden this like 3D Garden a lot of fun um another one is Neco Syndicate this one is like a cat themed game it is actually by Danny Garcia and it is it says it's like a filler game by Danny Garo which I think is very cool I've really enjoyed some of his past games um like arboria as well as Barcelona uh another game of his I am anticipating higher up on my list um but yeah Neco Syndicate is like a building 30 minute engine building game it looks really really cute um another one is rivages Professor Meg from board game Co she actually mentioned that she really enjoyed it and that it is a draft and right and say draft and right and you automatically have my attention CU I love clothes drafting I love verban rights of any sort so that one I'm very excited about um another one is inaria which is one that I believe was available at Gen Con but I just never heard it until after Gen Con and a lot of my friends Bard game content creator friends said really good things about it um I think C Ilia and Tyler from C said some good things about it um so I'm excited to check out that one it's from Michael keasling and I really enjoy a lot of his games and I think in that game you're like creating a cafe floor which any game that has Cafe in it and coffee you know I'm going to love even if it's just creating the floor for the cafe I'm going to love it um another one that I actually got a little bit of a demo at uh wsbg for is Kingdom Legacy so this is actually from Fricks games which is the same publisher as terraforming Mars and they're coming out with this solo Legacy card game if you guys have ever played Palm Island which that's one that I recently played as well where you have a bunch of cards and you are getting the resources with the cards and then spending the resources in order to flip over the cards and like turning the cards stuff in your hand this one kind of gave me the Vibes of that but like a thousand times bigger and it is actually a legacy game so it comes in this little box and it is a legacy game so you're going through these different chapters and each chapter that you go through you're going to be you know taking cards out of the game you're going to be ripping and trashing cards you're going to be putting stickers on cards and doing different things you're going to be writing on cards I have been really wanting some sort of like small Legacy solo game that is a little bit easier to get into than these big sprawling uh games these big Campaign games so uh Kingdom Legacy I'm so excited about I do think I am getting a copy of this one so I will definitely show it off to you guys but that is going to be available at Essen um another one I'm anticipating is Tea Garden you guys can already tell by the name of this game and the look of this game that it is one that obviously grasped my attention it has some deck building I believe as well as some worker placement and it is just absolutely stunning so I'm very much so looking forward to this one um and then also daoshi is the other Danny Garcia game from D that I am so excited about this is one that I've been anticipating for quite a long time I thought it was coming out at Gen Con it didn't come out at Gen Con so it is coming out at Essen and I've heard a lot of good things about it board game ramblings Johannes and ceva have said some good things about it and a few other um people I've heard talk some great things about it so I'm very very very excited and anticipating daoshi and then my number one is one that I've mentioned many times but that is celution this is coming from Stephan Feld and it is a big game for sure and I'm a little bit scared of it but it looks beautiful um I'm a huge fan like I said of the castles of burgundy stefen Feld um his designs are pretty awesome so yeah I'm very excited for that one it does scare me a little bit and I probably won't get to that one as soon as I will the other ones on this list because they are you know smaller more approachable games um easy to learn easy to get to the table but Civ olution just looks absolutely amazing and I cannot wait for the day that I will learn it and get it to the table and play it with friends cuz I know it is going to be amazing even though it's a big boy so yes those are all of my anticipated games games I'm also anticipating a few expansions um one being the veil of Eternity artifacts expansion the veil of Eternity has went all the way up into my top 10 games of all time so I am so excited for this expansion um another one is the Barcelona expansion I mentioned that with my Gen Con most anticipated but they didn't have it there so I'm excited to get that one soon and then also the White Castle matcha expansion I'm very excited about as well because matcha is delicious and it looks amazing and the White Castle is very fun so yeah those are some expansions I'm anticipating um and yeah that is everything for my most anticipated for Essen and I do believe that's everything for this video all right friends so that is going to be everything for this chill kind of hangout update video hopefully you guys enjoyed if you did please give this video a big thumbs up
